Funny things

In Germany we say loughing is healthy. That's right, although sometimes there maybe a false laughter or a hysterical one, it maybe ironic or even cynical. Jorge von Burgos says in Umberto Ecos novel "The Name of the Rose", laughing's a sin, because the human face would be distorted unnaturally and the man would look like an ape. William of Baskerville retorts , that apes don't laugh (which still has to be proved right or wrong), but that laughing's a characteristic of human beings only (?).

You will find on the downloads page further funny things like Powerpoint presentations, video clips, texts and more and several links to funny pages can be found at the bottom of this page.

How Peter got the nickname PetSie ...

During the first months of our longtime companionship I got used to call my friend who's name's Peter PetSie. "PetSie" is the result of using the Femini-Spräch, a scecialized German variant for feminists, the cabaret duo "Missfits" (engl. "Miss" = Fräulein; "to fit" = passen; ungefähr also: "dieses Fräulein passt") constructed this type of verbal feminism. But the Fem- btw. Femini-Spräch is a parody of real verbal feminism. The German syllable "er" (third person pronoun singular for "he") has to be replaced consequently by "sie" (third person pronoun singular for "she"), "man" ("someone") and "mann" ("man") by "frau" ("woman") and last not least all vocals (a, o, u) have to be replaced by German umlauts. But only the vocals, no diphthongs!

e.G.:
Werner fährt im Urlaub in die Normandie.

that's in Fem-/Femini-Spräch:
Wsiensie fährt im Ürlaub in die Nörfraudie.

German "Zwielaute", also called diphthongs, have to be left as they are, otherwise the German word for woman "Frau" would be "Fräu". But the substitution of the syllable "er" the word "Juterucksack" (please have a close look at this word! [the translation of "Juterucksack" is not quite possible, but means a back-pack made of jute]) becomes a "Jutsieücksäck". That's completely crazy and nonsense but consequent. Please, do also look here.
